Three from four against Vic

It was a great day against the Victorians yesterday, in fact the best ever result by our teams against the "Old Enemy.' Check out the score summaries:

Over 40s: SA 9/238 defeated Victoria 110 all out. Andrew Frick 65, Russell Curyer 62, and Luke Clayton 39 got SAVCA on their way and Chad Parrish 4/11, Simon Redfern 2/19 and Nathan Green 2/22 finished the job. Bruce Stribling and Michael Bohmer umpired the match

Over 50s: SA 4/155 defeated Victoria 152 all out. Jeremy Snoad 3/6, Graham Crawford 3/29 and Simon Tape 2/19 kept the Victorians under control before skipper Richard Gabb 51 not out and stalwart Leith Dawes 41 led the team to victory. Brenton Hillman and Michael Stanley officiated in the match.

Over 60s: In a game that was only decided in the final over, SA 6/171 defeated Victoria 8/169. Darren Cheek 3/29, Player of the Match David Crocker 2/22 and skipper Paul Clarke 2/25 led the way, while David Smith 38 not out and Clayton Johnson 33 brought their team home. Chris Whibley and Terry Jeffrey controlled the game.

Over 70s: 'The Ancients' sadly missed out with 8/141 going down to Victoria 4/175. Magic Mike Riley 2/19 and Dixie 1/19 did their best, and Greg Quinn, making a marvellous return to representative cricket score a gritty 40 retired, Mike continued his contribution with a skilful 37 not out and skipper Bill Kidd hit up a feisty 18. Stephen Brown and Rick Drewer were the umpires for the match

Many players at each age division received their Baggy Red cap, representing SAVCA for the first time. This augurs well for the future. 2024 was the first year that the Over 40s have joined the competition, so we are advancing strongly.
