Tim Sargent - Goodwood CC
Finally, after a few false starts due to COVID, the 13-player squad for the Tri-series being held in Brisbane July 3-9 has been confirmed.
South Australia's Tim Sargent has been a regular player selected since the inaugural Australian team was selected in 2017, where he toured England. Since then Tim has played against New Zealand, competed in the World Cup and the Ashes in 2018. In 2019 he travelled to South Africa and represented Australia in the World Cup before it was cut short by Covid. Tim is very much looking forward to the Tri-Series in July.
Congratulations also to our six newly capped players on their inclusion in the Australian team. They join a select group of players who have been chosen to represent their country at a national level. With seven players returning in National colours there is a good mix of experience at International level and enthusiasm. This series will be the first time an International tri-series will be held for the Australia O50's players in Australia.
Australian Over 50's Board Chair Andrew Knight added, "The selection panel has an eye on the March 2023 World Cup in South Africa. The selected players have a great opportunity to put their names forward for this event. The players have missed a lot of cricket at both State and International level, so series such as these and the National Championships in Adelaide in November are an important part of the selection process."
The Australian side will hope to secure all three trophies on offer during the week.
