The South Australian Over 60s Cricket Association was initially established with SACA’s backing in January 2007 to cater for veteran cricketers wanting to continue playing in a friendly and competitive environment.
Since then, we have added an Over 50’s competition to complement our existing Over 60’s and 70’s program, playing under the umbrella of the SA Veterans Cricket Association (SAVCA). We now provide the structure, equipment and facilities for more than 120 players, so that anyone at all skill levels can continue playing in Over 50’s 60’s and 70’s matches.
Our Sunday Summer 40 over turf competition comprises six teams – Eastern Rangers, Northern Bulls, South West Eagles, Fleurieu Fins, Central Devils and Adelaide Uni Blacks.
Tuesday winter scratch matches are played on hard wickets during the off-season.
A highlight of every season is participating in the annual national championships, which are held on rotation in different states each year.
The ’Nationals’ run for a week with teams competing from Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia and New Zealand.
We play matches against other state-based teams at five-day carnivals in Mildura and Echuca. As well, annual intra- state matches are played against teams from our regions, including Encounter Bay, Kangaroo Island, Yorke Peninsula, the South East, the Riverland and Encounter Bay.
Each alternate Sunday the O50's 40 over competition is played on turf wickets with teams representing Adelaide University, Brighton Cricket Club, Grange Cricket Club, Eastern Zone, Hills Fleurieu & Yorke Peninsula.
